Girevoy Training in action

Hereโ€™s just one set of Coach Shazzaโ€™s training for yesterday. 14mins (7mins each arm) One Arm Long Cycle.

Not many people know that the majority of competitive Kettlebell Sport Athletes are coached online and rarely get a chance, if ever, to train one on one with their Coach. You do all of your interaction via recorded videos and messaging and every so often you may get a chance to speak to them in person.

Training by yourself is never easy, so when people ask how do you do it?ย  The answer is simple.. if you want it, you just have to work for it!

Serious athletes train up to 6 days per week and at minimum of 1.5hours of sport specific programming per day. You also have your GPP (General Physical Preparedness) to complete then normally finish off with endurance (cardio) training.

Longer, lighter Kettlebell sets than what you normally compete with build not only endurance and grip strength, they teach you how to pace, how to breathe correctly, and of course they build your physical strength but one of the big things that come with this type of training is mental strength.

Competing in Girevoy Sport (Kettlebell Lifting) takes a lot of mental focus. Seeing out a 10min set can be one of the hardest things to do when your body is telling you how much it hurts, it is your mind that has to kick in and convince you that youโ€™re not going to die, it has to convince you to just get the work done.

Does it seem hard? Hell yes it is, but no one ever got to where they wanted to be, by sitting around hoping one day it will happen.

Not every day in training or in competition is going to be a good day. You learn from the bad days, you just have to get up, dust yourself off and soldier on.

But when those good days come along, man are they worth all the hard work!

If you are keen to learn about Kettlebells or are perhaps considering taking up the sport, there is no one better to talk to than Coach Shazza at Bellistic - The Home of CrossFit 2680.

Coach Shazza has been an Australian Kettlebell Sport Team Athlete for the past 2 years and is also the Vice President of the Girevoy Sport Australia Association.

Coach Shazza has competed very successfully over the past 7 years and is currently ranked both 6th & 7th in the World in her division for the discipline of Snatch 16kg & OALC 16kg.

Youโ€™ve just got to love those bells!ย ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป
